Oasis PRiME HLB sorbent is designed to simplify solid-phase extraction (SPE) by taking advantage of the desirable water-wettable and retention characteristics of Oasis HLB while providing cleaner samples in fewer steps, due to simpler protocols and the elimination of sorbent condition and equilibration steps. Oasis PRiME HLB is ideal for all compound classes.
NEW OASIS PRIME MCX combines the simplicity and cleanliness of Oasis PRiME HLB with the specificity of a cation-exchanger for compounds with basic characteristics, and provides the perfect solution for targeted sample clean-up.
Oasis HLB is an all purpose, strongly hydrophilic, reversed-phase, water-wettable polymer with a unique Hydrophilic-Lipophilic Balance. Oasis HLB maintains high retention and capacity even if it runs dry after conditioning. This sorbent is ideal for acidic, basic and neutral analytes as it's stable from pH 0-14.
Oasis MCX is a Mixed-mode, strong Cation-eXchange, reversed-phase, water-wettable polymer. Oasis MCX is selective for bases and stable in organic solvents.
Oasis MAX is a Mixed-mode, strong Anion-eXchange, reversed-phase, water-wettable polymer. Oasis MAX is selective for acids and stable in organic solvents.
Oasis WCX is a mixed-mode, Weak Cation-eXchange, reversed-phase, water-wettable polymer. Oasis WCX is used to retain and release strong bases and is stable in organic solvents.
Oasis WAX is a mixed-mode, Weak Anion-eXchange, reversed-phase, water-wettable polymer. Oasis WAX is used to retain and release strong acids and is stable in organic solvents.
Sample preparation is often necessary to improve various aspects of chromatography and mass spectrometry analyses. Solid-phase extraction (SPE) or technically known as "Liquid-Solid Phase Extraction" is a sample preparation technology that uses particles of chromatographic packing material, usually in a cartridge or 96-well plate format, to chemically separate different analytes and aid in removing the matrix components in a sample. There are some major benefits to using solid-phase extraction.
SPE is a proven sample preparation tool enabling simple sample matrix removal, including common interferences such as proteins, salts, fats and phospholipids. This matrix removal provides many benefits, including a reduction in matrix effects, increases in sample concentration and analyte specificity. It also significantly simplifies chromatographic complexity by reducing the number of interfering peaks in the LC as well as reducing signal suppression by providing clean samples for the MS.
Oasis PRiME MCXTraditional mixed-mode SPE protocols require six steps and still may not remove matrix interferences such as phospholipids. Oasis PRiME MCX is a highly efficient, orthogonal (reversed-phase and ion-exchange) solid-phase extraction product based on Oasis MCX technology. Sample clean-up is achieved with simple and fast three- and four-step protocols which remove up to 99% of phospholipids from complex sample matrices while providing high and reproducible target analyte recoveries. Oasis PRiME MCX is QC tested for performance using analyte recovery and phospholipid removal as benchmarks. In addition, cartridges and plates are designed with a manufacturing optimization to increase flow reproducibility across wells and devices, making sample processing time more predictable. |
Oasis PRiME MCX AdvantagesSIMPLER: A defined, generic 3-or 4-Step SPE protocol based on the water wettable Oasis MCX strong cation-exchange / reversed-phase sorbent that does not require extensive method development. Allows targeted cleanup of basic compounds with pKa ≥ 4.5. Methods are patent pending CLEANER: Simpler methods remove up to 99% of phospholipids, a major cause of matrix effects, ion suppression, shorter column lifetimes, increased MS maintenance and higher variability in LC MS quantification. Oasis PRiME MCX is QC’d with this protocol for phospholipid removal FASTER: Cartridges and plates are designed with a manufacturing optimization to increase flow reproducibility across devices, making processing time more predictable. No conditioning and equilibration steps are required. |

Oasis PRiME MCX 3-and 4-Step ProtocolsOasis PRiME MCX methods are designed to capture and concentrate basic compounds while matrix interferences are removed from the sample. The 3 step method provides the simplest path to cleaner, while the 4 step method contains an additional wash step to remove even more matrix components, if needed.

Oasis PRiME HLBOasis PRiME HLB is the first-of-its-kind, patent pending, solid-phase extraction (SPE) sorbent that sets the new performance standard for routine analyses. Based on the Oasis HLB Technology, the Oasis PRiME HLB Sorbent was developed to meet the needs of scientists looking for cleaner samples in less time and with less effort. Oasis PRiME HLB reversed-phase sorbent is designed to simplify SPE by taking advantage of the desirable water-wettable and retention characteristics of Oasis HLB while providing cleaner samples in fewer steps, due to simpler protocols and the elimination of sorbent condition and equilibration steps. This is the ideal choice for routine analysis of reversed-phase SPE of acidic, basic, and neutral analytes.

Food Matrix Removal using Oasis PRiME HLB 2 Step Protocol
Additional benefits of using the 2-step pass-through protocol for multiresidue contaminant analysis: No method development - The same pass-through protocol is applicable to various pesticides, veterinary drugs or natural toxins analyses Time saving protocol - Used as the clean-up method following QuEChERS extraction. Saves significant time compared to traditional dispersive SPE method while achieving superior clean-up Improve instrument up time - Cleaner samples lead to less dirty matrix injected into the system, resulting in longer instrument up time and less maintenance Convenient and flexible formats – Traditional-style cartridges compatible with vacuum and positive pressure manifolds. "Plus" style cartridges can be used without manifolds when connected to a displacement syringe

Oasis HLB methodologySolid-phase extraction (SPE) method development starts with knowledge of the sample matrix—the nature and relative concentration of the analytes of interest and the potentially interfering endogenous compounds. The right sorbent and solvents are selected for load, wash, and elute steps, resulting in the creation of rugged, reliable, and selective protocols. Waters application chemists have devised several approaches to streamline this process. The Oasis HLB method is a generic protocol used to isolate a broad range of acidic, basic, and neutral compounds from a wide spectrum of matrices. |
Oasis 2x4 MethodThe Oasis 2x4 method for selection of SPE sorbent and protocol for acids, bases, and neutrals produces the cleanest extracts by eliminating matrix interferences and sample variability. Two protocols and four sorbents provide the flexibility to extract acids, bases, and neutrals with high SPE recoveries while removing matrix components that may interfere with analysis. Follow the simple steps outlined in this flow chart to achieve high recoveries and the cleanest extracts:
