Student Opportunities

Cooperative Opportunities and Internships

Waters offers paid cooperative and internship programs for college/university students which provide valuable, practical experience. Acceptance is based on academic achievement, proven leadership potential, demonstrated commitment to success, and aptitude and attitude. Cooperative and internship opportunities most frequently exist within our mechanical, electrical, chemistry, computer, and information technology disciplines.

Cooperative education — These paid positions are typically offered in three, six, and eight month terms throughout the year. To be eligible, graduates or undergraduates must:

  • Be enrolled in a formal cooperative program at an accredited college or university. Students receive credit and grades for their cooperative assignments.
  • A record of strong academic achievement, with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Unrestricted authorization to work in the country where the internship/cooperative opportunity will take place.
  • Commitment to the duration of the assignment.

"I liked working at Waters because I was given as much responsibility as other full-time employees.  I felt like my work was actually contributing to the projects I was involved with.  I felt like part of a team and the environment was relaxed and fun to work in.  There were a lot of opportunities for employees to participate in sports teams after work and also events at the gym that made me look forward to coming to work every day.
I was able to learn so much in the time that I was working at Waters.  I felt that it was more of a learning opportunity than just a job. I felt that the work I was doing was relevant and important which I feel is much different than what other coop students got to experience."
- Melissa, Co-op

Internships — Most internships are offered full-time during school breaks and part-time during the school year.

As an intern or cooperative, you will work on a variety of projects that will draw from the knowledge gained from your academic experiences. These positions are primarily available in our Milford, Massachusetts (Corporate headquarters) facility, but opportunities may also exist at our facilities around the globe. As an intern or cooperative, you'll generally work full-time (about 40 hours per week). However, opportunities may exist to work part-time during the academic year.

Applying for the opportunity

We accept resumes for internships and cooperative opportunities year-round. When applying, candidates are encouraged to highlight specific projects they have worked on. Candidates should also include a letter of recommendation from their academic advisor or professor.
