SELECT SERIES MRT

Redefine performance with all the benefits of time-of-flight technology

Redefine performance with all the benefits of time-of-flight technology

Accelerate your research and comprehensively identify analytes in your complex samples with the SELECT SERIES MRT, built with state-of-the-art Multi Reflecting Time-of-Flight (MRT) technology. The SELECT SERIES MRT provides a unique combination of ultra-high resolution and specificity independent of scan speed, resulting in unambiguous compound identification with even the most complex samples.

Distinguish the fine isotope structure of small molecules, resolve nominally isobaric interferences, and baseline resolve the isotopic envelope of multiply-charged ions with high resolution MRT technology. Unlike other high-resolution mass analyzers, SELECT SERIES MRT requires no compromise to your experiments, since mass resolution is consistent over a broad mass range and scan speeds.

High resolution mass spectrometry, without compromise

The SELECT SERIES MRT achieves ground-breaking Time-of-Flight (ToF) resolution with the innovative use of multiple reflections of the ion beam between two gridless electrostatic mirrors in the mass analyzer. This extends the ions’ flight path, spatially refocusing the ion packets through a series of periodic lenses after each reflection maintaining sensitivity. Resolution Enhancement Mode (REM) extends the flight path by deflecting ions back for a second pass of the MRT analyzer increasing the resolving power by >50% enabling >300,000 FWHM.

The superior performance of the SELECT SERIES MRT results in high precision and routine part-per-billion mass accuracy independent of acquisition speed, providing unsurpassed quality of mass spectrometry data and information. The instrument is operated via the SELECT SERIES MassLynx acquisition system with simple and intuitive experimental setup, acquisition, and processing of mass spectrometry data. It records data in the widely deployed Waters .raw file format, which you can easily access via the MassLynx API, export as (i)mzML, and other interchangeable data formats, ready to use in your data analysis strategy.

Redefining confidence for LC-MS

The SELECT SERIES MRT provides a new level of confidence for LC/MS experiments by routinely obtaining ppb mass accuracy, revealing fine isotope structure, all with the exceptional usability of a state-of-the-art Quadrupole Time-of-Flight (QToF). The spectacular performance enables search tolerances to be minimized, providing higher confidence in elemental composition and molecular formula assignments for known and unknown targets. Moreover, the ability to routinely access such high specificity from accurate mass for both precursor and product ions is truly transformative.

Redefining clarity in mass spectrometry imaging

The SELECT SERIES MRT reduces analysis times by providing crystal clear, high-resolution images, acquired at fast imaging speeds without compromising mass spectral resolution or accuracy. This enables accelerated mass spectrometry imaging experiments while still resolving analytes from interferences, revealing fine structural information. The cutting-edge technology and intuitive software combine to revolutionize mass spectrometry imaging for a wide range of applications; where the ability to map compounds that differ by only a few mDa is changing the pace of research. This includes:

  • Tissue analysis in biomedical research
  • Forensic research, including fingerprint analysis
  • Surface analysis, ranging from surface contamination analysis for semiconductor production, to analysis of tape stripped skin samples in the cosmetics industry

Maximize MS imaging capabilities with DESI and MALDI

Maximize your mass spectrometry imaging capabilities and analytical flexibility with both DESI and MALDI on the SELECT SERIES MRT. Pair the SELECT SERIES MRT with DESI XS for high quality data and clear visualization of molecular spatial distributions. The speed and versatility of DESI imaging makes it best suited to the analysis of lipids and other small molecules under ambient, direct analysis conditions, without the need for additional matrices.

Use the high-performance MALDI source to improve imaging performance and ease-of-use, so you can rapidly image large tissue sections at high spatial resolution with improved selectivity and sensitivity. MALDI’s design uses a tightly focused laser beam profile, increasing signal-to-noise at high spatial resolutions and providing lateral resolution of 15 µm without oversampling, with data acquisition rates >10 pixels per second, so scientists can acquire high intensity images quickly and efficiently. With MALDI and SELECT SERIES MRT, you can:

  • Enable imaging of large sections with a full-sized Micro Titre Plate (MTP) format MALDI target plate
  • Access high spatial resolution through increased signal to noise (S/N), with a focused laser beam profile
  • Simplify usability with an automated isolation valve and laser focus control
  • Maximize productivity and uptime with easy cleaning and maintenance
