The Year in Review: Responding to COVID-19 [Infographic]
Waters Innovation Response Team gathered quickly in March 2020 to support the scientific response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This cross-functional team has one simple objective: to connect the expertise contained within Waters to the global fight against SARS-CoV-2. This challenge was far too great for any organization to tackle alone, so researchers from numerous institutions banded together to share knowledge and insights into the science of the global fight.
From helping customers at the clinical interface with therapeutic drug monitoring to helping customers develop new vaccines to treat the virus, our Innovation Response Team has worked to help accelerate the research and development of new COVID-19 diagnostics, therapies, and vaccines.
The focus of the Innovation Response Team quickly developed into three threads of execution:
- Innovation Response Team Collaborations: Waters assembled its brightest scientific minds to partner with organizations engaged in COVID-19 related work, spanning everything from running samples, to methods development, to longer-term research engagements in the detection of viral diseases
- In-Kind Donations: To aid in the immediate diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19, Waters donated analytical consumables to hospitals and other nonprofits—including a number of hospitals in Italy and central Europe that were hit especially hard at the start of the pandemic
- Philanthropic Exercises: To help alleviate the immediate and crushing needs associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, Waters donated a total of $100,000 to CDC Foundation, Direct Relief, International Medical Corps, and Doctors Without Borders
