A Week in the Life of Vicky Starkie, Customer Success Team
When you purchase new analytical instrumentation, are you a customer or a partner? When you work with Waters, you choose if and when you want support.
Let me introduce Vicky. Vicky joined Waters’ Customer Success Team about two years ago with 20 years of LC-MS experience. She specializes in clinical forensic and toxicological applications supporting customers in Northern Europe. Here’s a look at the support Waters can provide.
Monday – Wilmslow
A day at our head office in Wilmslow, Manchester, UK. This is a chance to catch up on emails, phone calls, and reports for customers. I also need to prepare for a customer visit on Tuesday, where I will be delivering a presentation on forensics and toxicology screening.
I have a couple of journal articles that I have been wanting to read. Keeping up to date with the latest research is very important to me to support academic institutions.
Tuesday – Lunch and Learn
I am visiting a local university teaching hospital. Waters are visiting to do a “Lunch and Learn” session at the university. The customer is currently using nominal mass but wants to know more about the potential benefits of accurate mass analysis for their work.
At the end of the lunch session I stay behind to discuss running their samples in Wilmslow. The university is starting the process of applying for a grant to fund a Ph.D. student. The data will to be used as proof of concept for a grant application for both the Ph.D. student and equipment. One of the best parts of my job is being able to support customers at every stage of their work.
Wednesday and Thursday – Local University
Wednesday and Thursday I am spending with a local hospital that is doing targeted analysis using quadrupole mass spec technology. They have established methods but have inquired about whether their whole analytical process could be more efficient.
During these two days we look at the use of different LC columns and Oasis PRiME HLB sample preparation cartridges. This alternative sample preparation method produces cleaner samples in almost half the time compared to liquid-liquid extraction, to produce more robust LC-MS data and reduce instrument downtime.
Friday – Wilmslow
Back in the office and a few emails and phone calls later, I get into the lab. I want to run some customer samples before the weekend. If I am lucky I might even get the data out to the customer before I leave for the day!
We hope you enjoyed taking a look #behindcloseddoors at Waters Wilmslow!
